Canvas Prints

Stretcher Bars

High quality stretcher bars are used to create the frame around which the canvas is stretched and stapled.
Cross braces are used to provide additional support to larger frames, to help prevent warping and twisting.

A stretched canvas is meant to be framed.
For a canvas print which doesn't require framing, we suggest a Gallery Wrap.

Our canvases are stretched and stapled by hand.

Gallery Wrap

Gallery Wrapping is an alternative to traditional stretched canvas.  The Gallery Wrapped print is ready to hang on your wall without needing to be custom framed.

The heavy duty, premium stretcher bars we use for Gallery Wrap prints are produced right here in the U.S.A.
They are 1 1/2" thick and produce a beautiful Gallery Wrap, with clean corners, no bulky folds.
For large panoramic prints 45° braces (above, right) and center braces (below) are recommended.

There are three options for Gallery Wraps

1) Image Overflow
2) Image Mirroring
3) Border Color

Image Overflow

The image below shows an "Image Overflow" Gallery Wrap. The image wraps around the bars without anything having to be added.  This option is for images that were not shot tight to the subject, where wrapping the image won't cut parts of the subject off.

If the subject is too tight in the frame, important parts of the image may wrap around the bars, like the mast in the image below.

For images that are too tight to the edges, like the sailboat above, we also offer Mirroring and Solid Color borders.

Mirroring

We will extend the borders of the image to allow for wrapping the image around the bars.
In the example below, the dashed line shows where we have mirrored the image to extend the background.
This is just to show you an example of mirroring, in the final image we do our best to remove any obvious duplication (like the second sun)

Border Color

The third option is to add a solid color to the border of the image in the area that wraps around the bars, this can be a solid color, like black or white, or we can choose a color from inside the image itself.

You can choose the edge option you'd like during the ordering process on our store page.

Hanging Your Gallery Wrap

We offer two options for hanging your Gallery Wrap prints.  A French Cleat or Beehive Hanger.
Please select which option you'd like from the "Additional Options" list.  Either option is $10.00

Beehive Hanger

Step 1

Hold your Gallery Wrap up to the wall in the position you want to hang it,
and press against the top corners of the frame.
Apply enough pressure so the Positioning Points (the small points on the
front of the hangers) mark your wall.

Step 2

Insert the Support Pins into the wall where you’ve made your marks by
tapping gently with a hammer. Be sure to hold the Support Pins so the
rectangular plate is parallel to the wall while inserting at a downward angle.

Step 3

Hang your frame on the Support Pins. If adjustment is required,
simply lift the frame from the Support Pin(s) and reinsert into
another hole in the hanger.

Canvas Only

Canvas prints can be ordered "rolled up" if you would like to stretch the canvas yourself, or don't want it stretched.
Be sure to order the print with your desired border size.

We coat our canvas prints with a UV protecting liquid laminate coating which remains flexible when dry to prevent cracking and protects the print from the damaging effects of light, while bringing out the richness of the colors in the print.  If for some reason you would like your canvas un-coated, be sure to let us know in the order notes.

Verified Archival Materials Used

The Art Storefronts Organization has verified that this Art Seller has published information about the archival materials used to create their products in an effort to provide transparency to buyers.

Description from Merchant:

Our fine art printing process uses pigment based inks. Pigment printing processes have been utilized since the middle of the 19th century. The image stability of pigment printing is superior to that of any other method of printing. Pigment inks excel in permanence. A dye is molecularly soluble in its vehicle, but pigment is not. Pigment particles tend to be large enough to embed into the receiving substrate making them water-resistant. The particle nature of pigment inks ensures their archival superiority. A particle of pigment is less susceptible to destructive environmental elements than a dye molecule.
